I am so proud of your son! I just stumbled across your site today and read about him wanting to be veg. I did the same thing when I was 14 after being told I had to dissect something (let me add, I also got the mandatory rule of forcing kids to dissect in my school changed.. so I did everything on the computer) I am still a veg and happy with my decision. You already make a lot of things that are nearly veg anyway, I am sure, it is easy to leave out the meat in one portion. Good luck with learning the ropes and there is lots of great info out there for you. Oh, and I used to make the gagging sound when someone in my family ate meat too.. he will get over it after awhile, promise!

Both of my girls, ages 6 and 8 eat breakfast and lunch each day in the school cafeteria. Breakfast is $1.00 and Lunch is $1.25. They have never packed their lunch from home. They seem to enjoy eating at school, and I know they are getting nutritious meals. I do not allow them to purchase juices or chocolate milk, they both get reduced fat white milk with both breakfast and lunch. Sodas should not even be an option in schools. Emma and Claire do not even drink them at home. They consume milk, apple juice and water. They are both very healthy and happy straight A students and love sports.

I think that particular rule is going to be branded above dudelet’s bed when he learns to read – he’s already dictating what music we should and shouldn’t listen to. Heaven help us when he discovers good causes in a few years…

But BL, half the fun of a new ideology is the opportunity to proselytize! or -ise! If you were all to go vegetarian, think of all the fun debates you would not be having. It is so good of Tiffin Twin to care about the chickens. If chickens had a Time Magazine of their own, they would put him on the cover as person of the year. And chickens everywhere are likely roooting for him to convert everyone he knows.
